Getting Backlinks
All links to your site are considered votes in favor of your site. After all, why would you ever sent someone away from your site to an inferior site? It’s for this very basic reason that the engines algorithm favors sites with more links pointing at them, than ones that don’t have all the links.
Getting these inbound links is not always the most easy thing to do. Perhaps the most basic way to get them is to provide excellent content that makes other webmasters want to link to you.
There are many other ways of getting links as well but I’d venture to say creating quality content that makes others want to link to you is the best way. This method really helps your website gain importance. It also has the benefit of attracting links.
Glossaries are a good way to get inbound links. Other webmaster who don’t want to bother with the extra work will simply link to yours. Perhaps a character map will hold some value for your site and get some people to point a link at you.
The whole idea is to have something of value that others will want to share with their own readers.
Lists are often items that will pull readers attention in. If you can capture the minds of your own readers, chances are good that you could capture the minds of readers at other sites with that content as well. Offer it up and hope for the best, and that another webmaster will link to it.
Reciprocal linking is not exactly dead, but it’s certainly trembling in fear of death. However, the fact is, many sites have reciprocated links whether on purpose or not. I believe the days of the links page have gone by us and should no longer be used. Having a reciprocated link to another site within your content is a totally different situation.
Testimonials are something that is really good … no matter how you look at it. Everyone loves to get an email with some kind and generous words about their site, or themselves. Here is an opportunity. Write a nice testimonial about something at another site that is relative and in the market that your site is in. Include a link and good anchor text with the testimonial and email it off to the other webmaster.
Whenever we speak of linking we always want the other site to be relative to our site. By this we mean there needs to be some similarity. Socks to shoes is an example. There is relevance here. Sunglasses to hikers. Perhaps not a very close match of the market but it is still relevant that someone hiking will be outdoors and want sunglasses. Always keep some degree of relevance between all the sites you link out to, and hopefully, those that link back to you.
There is nothing more important to your online marketing success that generating inbound links. They will help boost your sites’ importance and get you better search engine listings. Always spend time generating inbound links to your site.
