VIDEO 1: BASIC OVERVIEW OF SEO
The first video is a basic introduction and overview of what SEO (search engine optimization) is.
Now I’ve been SEO-ing my own sites for several years and more recently been helping out other businesses with their SEO needs so I kinda know my way around basic SEO stuff, however I still found several new things in Sean’s first (30 minutes) video.
One of the pleasing finds was a WordPress plugin that is better than the highly regarded All-in-one-Seo plugin. On its own, this tip was no big deal but in the SEO battle to get on page one, every little bit helps.
Another great find was a bit of code you can add to your .htaccess file to prevent duplicate content issues. You dont need to know this, but in case 3 of you are interested, let me explain that the .htaccess file (= hypertext access) is one of the first files that browsers read when somebody visits a site. The .htaccess file (yes it’s got a dot in front of it to signify it’s an invisible file) controls what your site visitors can and cannot see and do at your site. As such, it’s a mighty handy tool to know how to use. You just paste Sean’s little bit of code in, and here endeth your duplicate content worries.
The video covers all the bases as far as SEO fundamentals go — the right use of keywords, title tags, heading tags, meta tags and more.
Plus a handy tip I didnt know about meta descriptions. I’ll be doing this from now on!
VIDEO 2: OFF PAGE SEO = BACKLINKS
The second video was 20 minutes about off-page SEO and it included such gems as…
* an AUTOMATIC way to get every visitor to your blog to promote your blog. Nifty.
* how to AUTOMATICALLY promote sites that link to you. Yep, helping their sites means you’re helping your site.
How? By strengthening the link juice that’s coming back to you from them.
Makes sense, doesnt it, because a link to your site from a popular site like CNN.com is going to be far more help to your website’s rankings than an identical link from some third rate site set up on free hosting somewhere.
* how to set up to get AUTOMATIC relevant links from other sites.
VIDEO 3: BROADCASTING YOUR STUFF TO MANY PLACES
The third video (also about 20 minutes) was about cross-posting, that is, broadcasting to 47 networks in a way that’s 100% AUTOMATED once you set it up.
* Sean also gets into a clever way to set your blog up so that your posts act as VIRTUAL SQUEEZE PAGES.
You’ll see how to seamlessly encourage your visitors to join your mailing list when they make a comment… which they will want to do because you will be incentivizing them to do. Clever. And all explained in the video. PLus more that I didnt mention here.
