To say that WWE talent John Cena is a polarizing figure is an understatement. Between his fifty-fifty crowd encouragement in nearly every venue to his supposed disinclination to change with his career progressing, it’s hard for many older fans to cheer for the twelve-time world champion. His personal life hasn’t been much better, either, as news came about that Cena had divorced his wife of almost three years. To say that Cena needs help is an understatement and considering WWE is heavily into the Internet, his online reputation can stand to be improved.

With Cena being such a popular figure in wrestling, one would believe that he’d be taken well by wrestling crowds. What’s shocking, to the new witness, is that he’s only truly loved by the female and child demographics. His powerful appearance and superhero-like attitude fail to bring the older male demographic, which was what WWE used to aim for, to Cena’s side. Arguably Cena’s biggest flaw is that he is ‘stale,’ his wrestling style rather tired and the Cena character as a whole being overexposed to the point of fans resenting him.

The Cena character is starting to show cracks, though not really by his choice. News of Cena’s divorce brought in other information as well which would not help Cena’s online reputation, an area that fish.bat specializes in. Wrestling is seen by many as an art and when one person is out of sync, the whole product aches.

Cena’s reputation has hit rock bottom, in the eyes of many fans, but what’s fortunate is that this can be altered for the better. Firstly, Cena has to take some time off, at least a couple of months after so many years of consistent WWE-related work without rest. He should also keep fans updated during his time off through a social media site. A sentence or two every few days or so can assist in Cena’s interaction with the fans. Everyone loves to stay updated in this digital age and Cena can only help himself by taking this knowledge into account.
